Spacemonies

Greed is but a word the jealous inflict upon the ambitious.

The last decade has been good for simulation games.

We've seen Factorio spawn an entire genre of factory/logistics time sinks, with the industry iterating towards games like Satisfactory and Dyson Sphere Program.

Paradox Interactive has been leading the charge on grand strategy games, with Stellaris, Victoria and Crusader Kings allowing players to take control of vast empires across all time and space.

And we have seen more indie studios pushing the catalogue's boundaries by the year, with games like Rimworld, Avorion and Startup Company bringing old ideas into a modern era.

I should be excited; there's more simulation games than I could possibly play and complete in my lifetime. And yet I haven't found one that has truly scratched the itch that I have been looking for after all these years: an immense economy simulation, where you only have one goal as a player - to keep growing.

There are economy games that exist already, for sure, but the idea of making as much money as possible tends to take a backseat to other objectives. You need money for global domination, but having money isn't the end goal.

So I am looking to fill this gap myself. It's something that I've always wanted to do, and ultimately it's the only way I'll be able to get the game that I've been searching for.

I don't have a name for this project yet, but it will be based on making money in space. So we're going to go with Spacemonies for now. And the game loop is going to be super simple - just keep growing.
